Outing to Craigtoun Park, June 2006 (Cont.)
(Continued from eXplorers page) ...Back to land with shaky legs and palpitations it was time for a very strong coffee for the three of us. We got our camouflage outfits on and made our way through bushes to the coffee shop whilst we thought the rest were preoccupied with golf, trampolines, bouncy castles and the train. We just got settled down to enjoy our coffee when we were pounced on by about half a dozen of the youth with hands held out for money for juice, ice creams or whatever! Just managed to get shot of that crowd when the rest arrived with cries of "Oh there you all are!" No rest for the wicked. Then back to the putting green. Have you ever seen the look on peoples faces when they realise they are following ten players. We did try to suggest splitting into groups but they all wanted to play the same hole at the same time! Literally - very confusing, how can one argue which white ball is yours! Luckily three got bored and started climbing trees and making daisy chains instead. We eventually played the nine holes (it felt like a full 18, at least) and went to round up stragglers to the main grassy area for a game of rounders. After a few arguments over the rules - it is amazing how many different rules people come up with for such a simple game - we eventually got batting. The day finished all too quickly and it was time to head back to the bus and to Glasgow. As some of you may already have seen the photographs there were mainly sleeping bodies on the way back. Ah! very peaceful. Argh! very short lived. Back to the Manse for a BBQ. Yup we are definitely gluttons for punishment. It was a good day out - now I wonder where we can go next year!?!?!?
