Once everyone had settled themselves into their rooms we got back into the mini bus to transport us across (well under) the motorway to a Brewers Fayre for dinner. We discovered later that there were some of the other Congregationalists staying at the accommodation there. What we all felt was a little bit inappropriate (or was it?!?) was that the road separating the two groups and accommodation was the A666!!!

In the morning we set off for the Hope Community Conference Centre in Oswaldtwistle where the Assembly was taking place. There was a reasonably healthy Scottish attendance. In addition to the seven of us from Knightswood, Margaret and Chris there were another three from Partick and two from Bellshill, six from Eyemouth, seven from Musselburgh, four from Airdrie Ebenezer, two from Aberdeen, two from Shetland and one from Castlemilk. For those trying to add it all up - that was 36 Scots.

The main points to report were:-

1. Four Ministers were included on the CF Accredited Roll of Ministries - Richard Woodhouse, North Walsham, Andrew McRae, Grimsby, George Hunter, Airdrie, Ebenezer and Anne Robertson, Shetland.
2. The affiliation fees should be £100 per Church plus £3.75 per church member and £25 for Personal Members.
3. Three Churches were welcomed as affiliated member churches - Sultan Road International Church (South East Area), Leigh Evangelical Church (North West Area) and Trudoxhill Congregational Church, Frome (South West Area).
4. The appointment of elected members - Ian Gregory, Public Relations Officer, Joel Wyatt, CF Youth Steward, Alan Argent, President Elect.
5. John Nockels handed over to Christopher Damp as the new President.

It was announced that the next May Assembly will be held at Brangwn Hill, Swansea on 12th May 2007. Mark your diaries now!

Then it was back to our Travel Lodge for a bit of relaxation before heading out to meet Malcolm Muir and the Eyemouth group and John and Susan Durham from Musselburgh for dinner.

In the morning we decided to go to Inglewhite Congregational Church to satisfy our curiosity about Rev. Mike Faun, the Minister and Church which featured a short while back in the Congregationalist magazine. It was a lovely little Church, so alive and friendly and an enjoyable service. We chose a good day as they have their family service and tea and coffee after the service the second Sunday in a month - so we got a cuppa before heading up the road.

We stopped at Windermere for a wander and lunch at about 2 p.m. and then back home for about 7 p.m.

Once more, it was a good weekend of fellowship.
