Girl Guides

Just to update you on what the guides have been up to. In February we celebrated Thinking Day with a concert at Adelaide's in Bath Street with over 300 Guides, Rainbows and Brownies from all over Glasgow. We also had a Church Service highlighting the Rights of a Child which everyone enjoyed, especially the singing. I was delighted with the good turnout and support for this. Then we had our evening on Monday 27th with patrols picking Mexico, Jamaica, France and Russia showing us their cultures, lifestyles, currency, export & imports and also a little taste of each Country, great evening once again standard was exceptionally high and everyone had a great evening. We are learning sign language too and enjoyed the crafts we did recently.

Holidays and Camps
We are going to Auchengillan on Friday 26th May until Monday 29th May (Bank Holiday weekend, where the girls will get to take part in various outdoor activities including crate climbing, team building, circus skills with the seniors taking part in Abseiling, Climbing and Fan drop! We are also having a BBQ and going swimming. The theme this year is "Harry Potter Goblet of Fire" so we will have Triwizard tournaments too! The cost for each guide is £45 this year as we are staying an extra night and no longer have G13 mini buses to assist with transport. Some guides are fundraising for their own part as I have quite a few in my unit who have two or more girls from the one family.

Forthcoming fundraising dates:-

Erskine Bridge Sponsored Walk – Sun 2nd April (each individual guide is raising her own money so please sponsor a guide that you know if not I will have a spare one at the front of the church if you would like to donate.

We are working with Guide Dogs for the Blind on Wed 5th April in Buchanan Street, Glasgow (all proceeds raised going to GDFB)

Table Top Sale, Sat 3rd June at in this Church with tea and coffee provided from the Social Committee (10am to 12 noon) each guide is again raising their own individual funds.

If anyone would like to donate to any of these fundraising events please let me know.

We have been awarded a grant from the Lottery which will go towards netball nets, balls and bibs, a complete hockey set and also towards crafts and a digital camera.
