Blythswood Shoe Box Appeal 2009
Knightswood Congregational Church is again taking part in the Shoe Box Appeal, organised by Blythswood Care. This is our fifth consecutive year of taking part in the initiative and we’re hoping this year will be the best year yet! Here is some information from Blythswood Care about the Appeal.
“Some people have so little that things we take for granted can mean so much as they are luxuries that they can’t afford to buy. To give someone a new hat or scarf when they have never had new clothes brings great joy and laughter. Please fill a shoebox and help bring this joy this Christmas.
After checking your box, Blythswood Care will add a Biblical storybook for children, a book for teenagers or a calendar with Bible verses for adults. It will then be sent to someone in need in time for Christmas.
Shoe boxes will be sent to Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, India, Moldova, Pakistan, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine. So, what should I put into a shoe box?

No loose sweets, lollies or undated bags of sweets. |
PLEASE USE ONLY AVERAGE SIZED SHOE BOXES
The reason for this is that it makes it very difficult for those who distribute boxes to individuals as it can look very unfair if one or two children or adults receive a box that is considerably larger than most others around them.
It also makes it easier to pack the boxes into cartons if they are of a similar size. Most shops that sell shoes would be happy to give empty boxes that can be used.
If you would like to fill a shoe box, please download the leaflet below and attach it to your completed box, or come along to the Church any Sunday between 10am and 1pm to pick up a leaflet. Alternatively, you can drop off your shoe box at various drop-off locations throughout the country. Completed Boxes have to be at the Church by 25th October, ready for Blythswood to collect.
