Cars!?**!?

All my life I have been unlucky with cars, never quite making the right buy. Oh I do tell a lie about that. I did buy a Ford Orion, very nice, went like a dream. But somebody wrote it off in an accident! See what I mean, lucky or what!

Well, my wee green mobile is playing up again, not starting this time.....How I wish I could have a look under the bonnent and actually make the thing go! But no luck, I will have to give Stan the Man a phone to see what he can do.

But not to worry, things can only get better eh!

Also, we seem to have taken a wee turn for the cold. I don't like the cold. Plays havock with my joints. But I did see a very cool thing this morning.

Spiders webs, yes spiders webs.

Amazing things especially in the frost when they are all illuminated with the frost on them, the wonder of God's creation. Mind you, still not too keen on spiders!!!

Shall I give the car one more try?

Who is Jimmy Savile?

I don't really watch much TV, but this weekend, (while Robyn and Jessica are down) while watching a thing about soap people singing (is that really entertainment, me and Pam were not too sure!). I happened to mention that Sir Jimmy Savile was going into the big brother house (a fact gleaned from BBC news website rather than watching this show, I may add!). Who is Jimmy Savile they asked? And indeed some of you may ask the same thing.

Ah, the days of my youth when TV was entertaining, Jimmy Savile hosted a show called Jim I'll Fix it, where children wrote in with certain dreams that they wanted to do, and Jim made these dreams come true. This was a Saturday nights early evening TV. Does that sound a bad idea? I don't think so.

But, hey, look how far we have come, we have politicians pretending to be cats in the Big Brother House along with a variety of people I have never heard of before.....or how about a singing programme where there is always one horrible guy that slags people off, its like having a baddie in a panto, people need something to boo.

Have we lost our way with all this? Is it all about shock rather than fun? And then there is that Little Britian show, but don't get me started there. I'm off to look for the Two Ronnies on UKGOLD

By the way for all those worried about my coldness, the boiler is still on the blink, but I'm surviving!

A Cold Day.............

I have been chilled to the bone..............the boiler went on the blink last night (Sunday), and has been off most of today.....I spent the morning holed up in the study with an electric blow heater. I did venture downstairs once to make a cup of tea. Once I had chipped the ice off the water I boiled it and made my way back upstairs.........

What is wrong with me!!!!!!!! I grew up in a house with no central heating, no double glazing and I coped. Am I getting older? Or are we all just to molycoddled nowadays? Well for sure its nothing to do with my age. I think. I hope.

I was also chilled to the bone by none other than Tom Morton calling on people to watch Celebrity Big Brother....was he serious......could he be...come on Tom, please tell us you were pulling our leg.

The year begins to roll on. Making plans for the various events coming up. First up, the band returns for a concert in Shotts in February. we had our first rehearsal tonight, sounding OK, and with a bit of practice we will be up and running for Feb. Look out Shotts, here we come. Thing is, no one, apart from me is even sure where Shotts is! This is to be followed by the Youth Concert, the Easter Conference.....and so it goes on. Good times all round.

Anyway, better go and make sure this boiler is ticking over, yes I did get a return to heat about 5pm. The drip on my nose is just about sorted now

Christmas, New Year, Family and Friends

This time of year seems to get busy and you loose (or lose) track of time!!! What has happened since I last wrote on 21st December. Well, lots of work with schools with services and visits. A good Christmas Eve with about 150 attending the evening service, there was a good feeling in the air. Christmas Day (Pam, not feeling well which brought things down a little, but she recovered well later in the day). Christmas dinner with family, Boxing day meal with Robyn, Jessica and Pam. Pictures (Harry Potter), visit to Seil (where I won another competition on the Tom Morton Show - a Party Animal CD! How apt!!)....Then New Year...more visits to family, more pictures (Cheaper By The Dozen 2). Busy, hundreds of miles travelled, but hey.....

Its Been Worth It. Why?

Because we took the time to make the most of every day. Seeing the people we loved, sharing with them, our time, our energy, precious moments every one. Maybe that should be my new year's resolution.

Oh, I forgot I made one of these already.....To read my Bible every day....nearly missed it yesterday, but thanks to the Sunday Mail, I was still able to read a piece.

Soon all will be starting again in the Church, the groups, the meetings. Boy I can't wait for this year to get going. So much to look forward to.

Happy New Year to one and all!
